Situated on ancient family land just downstream from an important temple, Surya Kembar, or “Twin Suns,” is blessed to receive waters flowing in the river valley, enlivening the gardens, rice fields, and architecture with a sacred energy. Surya Kembar offers 6 villas (2, 3 and 4 bedrooms), 7 suites, 8 swimming pools, a full service restaurant, large yoga studio, sitting bales, massage and spa services, and beautiful gardens, all designed into the contour of a rice field river valley to recreate the feeling of ancient times mixed with modern luxury and clean comfort.
The villas are located amongst rice paddies on a village road in a quiet setting, yet are only a few minutes drive from the cultural center of Ubud. The villa’s position to the south of Ubud makes it easy to take day trips to the beaches in Sanur, Seminyak, or Kuta without any of the traffic of town. Each day the local priest’s wife places offerings in and around the Surya Kembar to bring a good spirit and great smells to the area. The local banjar (community meeting place) is just a short walk down the road, and one can sometimes hear the faint sounds of the village gamelan practicing as the sun sets.
Surya Kembar shares a parking area and fully trained team staff. Included (free) in Surya Kembar’s daily services are: daily maid service, linens and towels, wireless internet and cable television, and daily breakfast. Airport transfer, driver to other attractions, massage, yoga classes, traditional Balinese meals, laundry, rental cellphone, rental motorbike, and babysitting can be arranged for an additional fee.
Surya Kembar was designed and built by Ida Bagus Oka Genijaya from Mas, Ubud, Bali, and was named after a legend told to him by his late father Ida Bagus Ketut Putra (ask him when you get here!).

Hi! My name is Oka and I am a villa designer and artist from Bali, Indonesia. For many years I travelled around America and the Carribean working on cruise ships, but now I have settled back home in Bali with my wife Dayu and my son Gustu. As a young boy, I was a woodcarver and pottery designer and have since combined my interests in art and hospitality to design unique villas around Bali. My family is also of the Brahmin, priestly caste in Bali, and I grew up learning about all of the unique and intricate aspects of Balinese culture, religion, and art from my father. In addition to being passionate about creating unique villas and art, I am also passionate about sharing information about my home – the island of the gods – Bali. I was once hired to do a Canadian National Geographic-like program called Departure Indonesia season 3- Ring of fire and Departure Indonesia season 3- A home away. You can look me up in these films! Being Balinese myself, I am always open to speak with guests about Bali’s rich culture and religion, and can offer tips about unique things to see and do. The Ubud area offers a number of great performances, the monkey forest, and exquisite temples, and I am happy to inform guests of authentic ceremonies and celebrations happening during their stay. Many of my family and friends are mask-makers, wood carvers, musicians and dancers, and I am happy to introduce those wishing to learn some of the Balinese arts.
